What It Feels Like
Komodo is Indonesia's drift diving classroom and playground. Expect negative entries, reef packed seamounts, manta cleaning stations, and healthy hard coral slopes. Reputable operators like Bajo Dive Club in Labuan Bajo time tides and choose sites to match skills.
Signature Sites

Steep walls coated in hard corals and clouds of anthias with pelagic passes on the blue.
Schooling trevally, barracuda, reef sharks, and action packed drifts across the saddle.
Clear water seamount with soft corals, sweetlips, and sharky corners when current pumps.
Level Up
Shallow, long drift with manta cleaning and cruising.
Southern hotspot with cooler upwellings and frequent manta trains in rainy season.
Natural rollercoaster through a constricted channel where jacks and sharks hunt in the jets.

Operator Checklist
- Book reputable, park licensed operators 2 to 6 months out for Jul to Sep. Nitrox is widely available. Briefings cover tide timing, negative entries, and DSMB deployment. Park rules prohibit gloves, reef hooks, DPVs, and collecting. DIN and yoke tanks are common. North is warmer and clearer; south can require thicker exposure protection. Liveaboards reach remote southern walls when seas allow.
