Getting There

Fly into Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo, then transfer 3 km to the harbor for day boats or liveaboards. There are multiple daily nonstops from Denpasar Bali and Jakarta, plus expanding domestic links. Boats depart the main harbor for Padar, Rinca, and central sites.

Getting Around

Around Labuan Bajo use airport taxis, ojeks, hotel shuttles, or private car hires. Limited app based rides are typically motorbike only. No public buses to the harbor. Walking works within the compact town.

Entry Requirements

Most travelers use a 30 day Visa on Arrival or eVOA. Passports must be valid 6 months on entry with onward travel. eVOA can be purchased online and extended once in country. Keep a copy of your arrival card and visa receipts.

Gear Logistics Checklist

Well equipped operators provide rental gear and nitrox. Tanks are DIN and yoke. Bring a DSMB, whistle, and lights for night dives. Pack a 3 mm suit for the north and 5 mm plus hood for the south. Rinse tanks and drying racks are standard. Reef safe sunscreen only.

Cash is common for park fees and small shops. Cards are accepted at many hotels and dive operators.

ATMs from major banks are along Jl. Soekarno Hatta in Labuan Bajo. Typical withdrawal caps are IDR 2.5 to 3 million per transaction.

Most travel chargers are dual voltage. Bring a compact C or F adapter.

Communications

Telkomsel, XL Axiata, and Indosat provide 4G in town. Coverage drops in the park. eSIMs that roam on local networks work in town. Expect spotty data at sea.

Language

Bahasa Indonesia is official. English is widely used in tourism. Manggarai and Bajo are spoken locally. Learning simple phrases helps.

Insurance

Carry dive accident and evacuation insurance. DAN maintains a 24 hour hotline. Confirm your policy covers boat operations and inter island air evacuation.
