Kos scuba is relaxed, local and accessible. Most visitors dive from shore-linked dive centers or small boats, with short runs to Kastri, Three Rocks, Skala and Krikelos, plus weather-dependent excursions to Pserimos and Nisyros. Expect Aegean visibility, rocky reef profiles, sponges, octopus, nudibranchs, wrasse, sea bream, scorpionfish, lionfish and occasional bigger schooling fish near wrecks and walls. The best season is May to October, with September and October offering a strong balance of warm water, fewer crowds and easing Meltemi wind.
A scenic Kefalos classic near Agios Stefanos, with shallow reef structure, schooling fish, sponges and easy profiles for training, refreshers and relaxed photography.

Operator Checklist
Book early in July and August, and ask whether the operator is running Kefalos local sites, Pserimos wreck days, Nisyros safaris or only training dives during your dates. Weather can change the route, especially for Pserimos, Nisyros and exposed wall sites. Bring proof of certification, a recent logbook entry and dive insurance. If you have not dived for more than six months, expect a refresher before deeper or wreck profiles. Respect archaeological rules at amphora sites and never remove anything from the seabed.
