When to go
Kos is a warmseason dive and snorkel island.
Best overall window
Warm sea, active beach season, broadest dive and snorkel schedules; July and August can be windy and hot.
Outside that window
Winter is best treated as a quiet culture and nature trip, with cooler water, windier seas and fewer wateractivity departures.
Start with the overall answer, then switch only when scuba, freedive, snorkel, or topside timing changes the trip in a meaningful way.

| North coast: Tigaki, Marmari and Lambi | May to June and September to October | Great for beaches, bikes and families, but north or northwest wind can make selfguided snorkeling less comfortable in peak summer. Main caution: Surface chop can add a little more texture on exposed entries. |

Octopus, nudibranchs, scorpionfish, wrasse and sea bream are common search targets on Kastri, Skala, the Gardens and the Potteries.

Thor Star and wall routes such as Krikelos can attract jacks, snappers, damselfish, picarel and occasional tuna or bonito movement.
