Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka operates a Center for Underwater and Hyperbaric Medicine at the Susak locality, Tome Strizica 3, with published 24/7 service and US Navy recompression protocols. In a suspected decompression illness, arterial gas embolism, drowning or serious barotrauma, call 112 or 194 first, provide oxygen if trained and available, keep the diver horizontal unless airway or vomiting requires another position, and follow emergency medical direction. Do not drive a sick diver to the chamber without coordination. Krk and Crikvenica have local emergency access, but definitive hyperbaric care is in Rijeka.

Bura may arrive with powerful gusts and jugo can build rough seas. Follow the official marine forecast and accept operator site swaps or cancellations.

Jakljan, Lina and similar profiles involve depth, decompression, open-water descents and possible overhead hazards. Use the exact certification, gases and team procedures required by the operator.

Pebbles, limestone, urchins, swimmers and small craft complicate shore entries. Use sturdy booties, visible markers and controlled entry points.

Warm surface water can hide much colder depth. Plan protection for the deepest part of repeated dives, not only the harbor reading.

Underwater Conduct

Do not remove protected shellfish, snails, fish or other marine organisms.
Do not touch, stand on or fin into gorgonians, sponges, corals or Posidonia meadows.
Use established moorings or operator-managed anchoring where available, and keep anchors out of seagrass whenever the skipper can do so safely.
Maintain buoyancy around wrecks and caves; silt and contact damage both habitat and visibility.
Leave archaeological material exactly where found. Record the location and notify the competent authority through the operator or conservatory department.
Take litter and fishing line out only when removal is safe, lawful and does not disturb habitat or evidence.
