Wrecks, limestone walls and deep-blue island channels within easy reach of Rijeka

Krk is unusually accessible for a Croatian island because it is connected to the mainland by bridge and Rijeka Airport is located on the island near Omisalj. Drivers approach through the Rijeka motorway network, then split toward Krk, Rijeka or Crikvenica. International visitors without a useful Rijeka flight commonly use Pula, Trieste, Ljubljana or Zagreb and continue by rental car or pre-booked transfer. Public buses link Rijeka with Krk and Crikvenica, but a car is more practical for early boats, scattered dive centers and multi-coast weather changes. Vehicle ferries from Cres and Rab enter Krk at Valbiska.
A rental car is the most efficient tool for divers because centers, marinas and alternate wind-side entries are spread across Krk, Rijeka and Crikvenica. Buses connect Rijeka with Krk town, Punat, Baska and mainland Riviera towns, but early starts and late returns may not fit dive boats.
