When to go
Monterey Bay is a yearround destination, but conditions change fast with swell, wind, and runoff.
Best overall window
More frequent calm swell windows, clearer days, and water often near 14°C to 15°C.
Outside that window
Winter storms can bring large surf and runoff. Expect more cancellations and choose protected coves or topside plans.
Start with the overall answer, then switch only when scuba, freedive, snorkel, or topside timing changes the trip in a meaningful way.
