Scuba
What It Feels Like
Scuba is the main reason most water travelers choose Munda. Local boats reach walls, coral ridges, sharky points, gullies, caves, and WWII aircraft wrecks within normal day-trip range. The best dives feel big and wild: vertical drop-offs into Blanche Channel, large fans, turtles, schooling fish, grey reef sharks, eagle rays, bumphead parrotfish, and macro life in the shallows. This is not a self-service shore-diving destination. It rewards divers who book with local guides, accept site swaps, and choose profiles that match their training.
Signature Sites
Start Here
A signature point dive where reef top, wall, sharks, turtles, and bluewater schooling fish create the classic Munda bigscene profile.
A Blanche Channel wall and point dive known for barrel sponges, fans, schooling fish, turtles, rays, and shark potential when current is manageable.
A fancovered wall with reef fish, macro subjects, rays, and sharks that works well as a classic Western Province wall dive from Munda.
Advanced
Canyons, ridges, shallow coral, and a deeper wall make this one of Munda's best mixed scuba and snorkel sites, with divers often working down toward {{ 25 | distance:m }}.
A guided overheadstyle adventure that begins through mangrove access and exits to reef wall scenery.
A deep F4U Corsair aircraft wreck around {{ 51 | distance:m }} that belongs on qualified deep or technical itineraries, not casual recreational checkout dives.
Planning Playbook
Operator Checklist
Book early enough to confirm the current Munda-based operator, boat schedule, Nitrox, rental computers, camera support, and emergency oxygen. Build spare days into the itinerary because wind, current, village access, aircraft schedules, and rain can change the best route. Bring proof of certification, logbook or digital app, dive insurance, and a conservative attitude toward deep wrecks. Do not touch WWII wreckage or coral, and let the operator handle kastom fees and community permissions.
