Scuba

What It Feels Like

Scuba in Mykonos is compact, scenic and operator-led. Expect short day-boat dives, Aegean visibility, rocky topography, sponge gardens, amphora fragments and a few memorable wreck/cavern objectives rather than huge coral reefs. ANNA II is the easiest signature wreck, Lia and Kalafakiona are fishy reef dives, Agia Anna works as a gentle wall, and Tragonisi is the weather-dependent cavern headline. Delos itself is primarily an archaeological day trip, not a casual dive playground, so dive planning should stay with licensed operators and permitted routes.

Signature Sites

Start Here

  • Lia Reef

Close to Lia Beach, this reef is known for sponges, nudibranchs, small fish life and clearwater profiles around {{ 7 | distance:m }} to {{ 27 | distance:m }}.

Advanced

  • ANNA II Wreck

A {{ 62 | distance:m }} cargo ship sunk in 1995 near Lia Beach, with intact structure, sponge growth and reef life around the wreck.

  • Kalafakiona Reef

Fishy reef with pinnacles, amphora fragments and frequent Mediterranean barracuda schools.

  • Tragonisi Caverns

A weatherdependent islandcavern system east of Mykonos with blue chambers, swimthroughs and protected monkseal habitat.

Planning Playbook

Operator Checklist

Book with a licensed local dive center rather than trying to improvise shore dives. Morning departures are usually easier during Meltemi season. Ask about Nitrox, rental computer availability, SMB requirements and whether ANNA II or Tragonisi is realistic for the forecast. Divers interested in amphorae or historically sensitive routes should use operators familiar with Greek underwater-antiquity rules. Do not touch pottery, anchors, wreck fittings, Posidonia or cave life.
