Overview

Current-fed soft coral pinnacles from Fiji's Suncoast

Rakiraki is the land-based gateway to some of Fiji's most vivid soft-coral diving. Day boats from Volivoli, Dua Dua, and nearby Suncoast operators reach Bligh Water reefs, Vatu-i-Ra Conservation Park, and current-washed pinnacles such as Mellow Yellow, Black Magic Mountain, and E-6. The signature experience is scuba, but the region also works for guided snorkelers, supervised freedivers, non-diving partners, village visits, waterfalls, and kiteboarding on nearby Nananu-i-Ra. Currents can be real, so the best trips pair flexible site selection with local guides, reef etiquette, and realistic weather planning.

What Makes It Special

  • Soft coral spectacle

Bligh Water flow fuels Fiji-style soft coral walls, sea fans, bommies, anthias clouds, and reef-fish action, especially on current-facing pinnacles.

  • Land-based flexibility

Stay in Rakiraki or Volivoli, dive by day boat, and keep non-divers engaged with waterfalls, villages, spas, markets, and Nananu-i-Ra watersports.

  • Conservation park access

Vatu-i-Ra Conservation Park combines no-take marine zones, catch-and-release management, seabird protection, and visitor contributions that support local stewardship.

  • Hybrid trip style

Rakiraki works as a focused resort diving week, while Bligh Water liveaboards add wider itineraries for experienced drift divers.
