Plymouth and Torbay sit on the same South Devon rail and road corridor but reward different arrival strategies. Exeter Airport is the closest commercial airport to Torbay and remains practical for Plymouth by pre-booked car or a connection through Exeter. Bristol has a much larger route network but a longer ground transfer. Long-haul visitors often use London Heathrow, then continue by rail or coach; direct Great Western Railway services link London Paddington with Plymouth, while Torquay and Paignton are reached through the South West rail network, often via Newton Abbot or Exeter. Drivers use the M5 and A38 for Plymouth and the A380 for Torbay. Plymouth also receives international passenger and vehicle ferries on selected Brittany Ferries routes. Always verify the exact seasonal air, rail, coach, and ferry schedule before locking a charter.
A car is the simplest option for a two-centre dive trip, especially with cylinders, weights, drysuits, and early boat times. Plymouth city centre, the Barbican, Hoe, rail station, and Mount Batten are connected by buses, taxis, and a local passenger ferry, but the exact charter meeting point may still require a vehicle.
