Granite shoals, protected Posidonia, and Mediterranean wrecks from a relaxed Sardinian base

Cagliari Elmas Airport is the practical gateway. From the terminal, travelers can rent a car, take the airport rail link into Cagliari and connect to an ARST bus, arrange a pre-booked transfer, or use a taxi. Villasimius lies roughly 65 km from the airport by road, depending on route. The coastal SP17 is scenic; the SS125 approach is often the more direct choice. Drivers arriving by ferry use the Port of Cagliari and continue southeast. Northern Sardinian airports and ports can work for a wider island road trip, but they add several hours of driving and are not the efficient gateway for a Capo Carbonara-focused stay.
A rental car is the most reliable option for dive departures, several beaches in one day, early viewpoints, and shoulder-season travel. Villasimius is linked with Cagliari by ARST regional buses; the official tourism office identifies route 101 as the year-round service and route 135 as seasonal, but current timetables must be checked.
