Cabbage Patch Cocos Keeling is a southern-atoll boat dive where a broad field of cabbage coral spreads across the reef before the terrain opens toward a drop-off. Bright reef fish work the coral heads, garden eels rise from the sand, and whitetip reef sharks are regular enough visitors to give the site a stronger blue-water feel than a simple coral garden. The site is popular because it delivers a distinctly Cocos mix of colorful hard coral, clear tropical water, and enough edge along the outer reef to keep the dive varied from start to finish. The inner garden is the easier-going part of the route, while the outer edge feels more open once the reef tips away toward deeper water.
