About Murray Road Boat Ramp
Murray Road Boat Ramp is a relaxed shore dive in the Torndirrup area near Albany on Western Australia's south coast, where a small rocky reef wall drops away from the ramp entry into calm, clear water. The site is suitable for beginners and snorkelers, with the average dive staying shallow, making it a practical training and family snorkel destination as well as a pleasant repeat dive. The underwater scene is typical of the temperate South Coast Bioregion: dusky morwongs, wrasse, and juvenile grouper are the most regular sightings, with stingrays occasionally resting on sandy patches near the base of the wall. The site is well protected from southerly weather and most prevailing swells, though easterly winds can develop chop and reduce surface comfort. Albany's water temperature sits in the cool-to-cold range year-round, so thermal protection appropriate for temperate diving is required.
