Shore-entry wall dive with submerged trees and permit-based access.
Shore-entry wall dive with submerged trees and permit-based access.
Sekirn Steilwand is a shore-entry lake dive for divers who want a classic wall profile with lake-specific planning. After a steeper slope entry, the route follows the right-hand shoulder of the wall, with a shallow zone above the thermocline and deeper scenery below it. Submerged trees and crevices add structure, and the site rewards slow pacing and good trim. Plan for permit-based access, modest freshwater visibility, and a dive that suits confident intermediate or advanced divers.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
10m - 30m
Depth Note
The wall is described in the shallow area up to 10 m and below the thermocline in the 15-30 m range.
Best Season
Late spring and early autumn.
Typical Conditions
Freshwater wall diving on a lake with a thermocline, a warm upper layer, and cooler water below it.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
The entry is a steep slope and the wall drops away quickly, so keep buoyancy stable on the descent and bring a light for the deeper structure. Low visibility below the thermocline makes a compass and SMB useful.
Access Restrictions
Municipal permission is required for Klopeiner See. Pick up the permit at Dive Center Klopeinersee at Strandbad Süd, and plan around the beach's own opening hours and entry fee when it is open.
Legal Notes
Carry the permit on every dive. It does not cover commercial instruction, and night diving is only allowed on the south side of Klopeiner See between 18:00 and 00:00 with a light at the pier.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
After the slope entry, follow the right shoulder of the wall and settle into slow wall-diving pace. The site works best as a deliberate scenic dive rather than a fast swim.
Freediving
Only the shallow slope and nearshore wall top suit freediving. The main attraction is better as a scuba route.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling works only in the shallow entry zone. The wall profile and permit-based planning make this a scuba-first site.
