Grand Cayman visibility, low-current baseline, and Babylon inclusion among notable sites.
Babylon
North-side wall dive with a coral pinnacle and blue-water pass.
About Babylon
Babylon is a signature north-side wall dive off Grand Cayman built around a freestanding coral-covered pinnacle and a narrow cut that opens onto bright reef fingers and white sand. Divers usually visit by boat to circle the pinnacle, pass through swim-throughs and alcoves, and watch the blue water for barracuda, tarpon, turtles, eagle rays, and other passing pelagics. The site is often at its best when the north side is calm, but the quick drop into deep water and open-water feel still make it a better match for guided divers who are comfortable with advanced wall profiles.

Babylon Planning Details
Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
15m - 30m
Depth Note
Pinnacle rises from over 30 m (100 ft) up to about 15 m (45 ft).
Best Season
Most reliable when Grand Cayman's north side is calm, especially through the drier months with steadier visibility, though operators run it whenever sea state allows.
Typical Conditions
Clear blue-water wall diving with a coral-and-sponge covered pinnacle, light current, and comfort that depends heavily on north-side swell.
Safety & Access At Babylon
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Safety Notes
Includes deeper water around the base of the pinnacle; plan gas, no-decompression limits, and ascent profile accordingly.
Access Restrictions
Usually dived with a boat operator; self-planned shore access is highly condition dependent and not practical in rough north-side seas.
Legal Notes
No Babylon-specific closure or permit requirement is typically flagged for visiting divers, but standard Cayman Islands marine-park, mooring, and protected-species rules still apply.

Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba
A pinnacle profile from deeper water up to a shallower top, with a narrow passage and adjacent shallow reef features.
Freedive
Possible only in unusually calm conditions with expert boat support. The blue-water wall profile and open pickup logistics make Babylon a niche freedive plan rather than a default choice.
Snorkel
Not a normal snorkel site. The wall profile, boat access, and open-water exposure make Babylon unsuitable except on very calm days with dedicated support.
