Dorniermole
Shallow wreck-style lake dive off Immenstaad.
Expect a long shore approach, protected lakeshore rules, and a short wreck-like circuit where silt and visibility matter more than depth.
About Dorniermole
Dorniermole is a shallow freshwater wreck-style dive off Immenstaad where a long shore approach leads to a compact structure in a protected lakeshore setting. The dive is more about buoyancy, route discipline, and fish life around the concrete and metal than about depth, and it works best for divers who are comfortable keeping things neat when visibility shifts.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
4m - 8m
Depth Note
Published descriptions vary, but the main bunker circuit stays shallow and recreational; the exact working depth shifts with water level and the chosen line.
Best Season
April-May and September-October for the clearest water; summer is warmer but often less clear.
Typical Conditions
The Bodensee can be dived year-round, but this site is most comfortable in calm water and clearer shoulder-season conditions rather than mid-summer silt.

Site Conditions
Boat trafficEntanglement riskLow visibility
Safety Notes
Carry a cutting tool, keep hoses and lights tucked in, and stay disciplined with buoyancy so you do not kick up silt or snag on steel and lines.
Access Restrictions
The protected Vogelinseln must not be entered. Plan on the long Immenstaad shore approach and keep clear of shipping and harbor rules.
Legal Notes
Use the required A flag for shore or boat diving, and stay outside 100 m of harbor entrances and landing stages when shipping would be affected.
Local Intel For Dorniermole
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
The appeal is a short wreck-like circuit around the old torpedo-test structure. Keep the gear streamlined and enjoy the fish life without trying to force a long, technical profile.
Freediving
Very experienced freedivers may use the shallowest structure in calm water, but the long approach, protected shoreline, and snag hazards make it a poor freedive-first target.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling only makes sense on the shallowest approach in calm water. The main structure is better dived than swum.
