Murata di Sant'Agostino is an offshore shoal on the Lazio coast, with a broad rocky plateau and steep outer edges covered in dense coralligenous growth. The draw is the structure and color: red and yellow gorgonians, red coral, and other Mediterranean filter feeders rather than a fish-heavy scene. It is best planned as a boat dive from the Civitavecchia/Riva di Traiano side, with calm seas making the long approach and offshore exposure much more comfortable.
