Tonbara
About Tonbara
Tonbara is a highly popular dive spot off Kume Island, reached by boat from the harbor in about 20–30 minutes. Dives are conducted around a large, rugged rock formation located southeast of the island. It is known for good tidal flow and a higher chance of seeing big fish, and is especially famous in winter when hammerhead sharks migrate through. From winter to spring, humpback whales may also be observed up close (often associated with whale watching).
