Redang dive-site guide describing Tanjung Tengah as an easy shore-access site in front of Pasir Panjang, commonly used for discovery dives and night dives, and among the island's busiest house reefs.
Tanjung Tengah
Busy beach-entry house reef with a Shark Bay nursery area.
About Tanjung Tengah
Tanjung Tengah is the central house reef off Pasir Panjang on Redang, where a long sandy beach lets divers and snorkellers wade straight into a shallow reef used for easy shore dives, discovery sessions, night entries, and casual reef laps. The southern side is widely known as Shark Bay because juvenile blacktip reef sharks use the shallows, and the reef also turns up barracuda, turtles, rays, squid, and common reef fish close to shore. Because it is one of the easiest reefs to reach on the island, it is also one of the busiest. Stay inside the marked reef area, watch for boats outside the swim line, and use careful buoyancy over the very shallow coral near shore.
