Boat access from Hahei keeps the route simple, but current builds on the outer edges and summer traffic makes calm-day timing important.

About Champagne Rock

Champagne Rock is a Hahei boat dive on the edge of Te Whanganui-o-Hei / Cathedral Cove Marine Reserve. The north side gives a simple start into shallow open reef before the rock turns into a kelp-lined wall with cracks and ledges, so the dive stays interesting without getting overly deep. It works best on calm days with a local operator, because the outer edges can run and boats pass frequently.
