West Point
About West Point
West Point marks the westernmost tip of Cuvier Island. The south-facing side features kelp-covered structure that slopes down to sand in the 15–18 m range, with the sandy bottom curving around the southern side and gradually deepening. Deeper reef areas can be found from about 25 m and beyond. The surrounding waters in the outer Hauraki Gulf are known for a mix of offshore and coastal species, with sightings of large rays reported at times.
