Pinnacles is a boat reef on 2 Mile Reef, so a local Sodwana operator and launch plan are the practical way to dive it.
Pinnacles is the shallow, colourful northern inshore edge of 2 Mile Reef at Sodwana Bay. Boat access from the launch site brings you to a reef of pillars, swim-throughs, sandy gullies, and caves, with the Old Woman pinnacle rising close to the surface and resident whitetip sharks using a nearby cave. It is a relaxed scuba site with plenty of structure, strong fish life, and the kind of topography that rewards slow buoyant exploring on settled days.

Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Buoyancy matters in the swim-throughs and small cave. Match the dive to surf-launch conditions and stay within the operator's plan.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only from Sodwana launch operators; not a shore-access reef.
Legal Notes
The reef sits inside Sodwana Bay's protected reef area and iSimangaliso Wetland Park, so follow park and operator rules and leave the reef untouched.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
