Illa Negra is a sheltered Begur boat dive with easy walls and macro life.
Begur dive centers organize the usual access and timing.
Illa Negra is a large dark-rock island just south of Cap de Begur, usually run as a boat dive and suitable from Open Water upward. The route follows the island wall, starting with a shallow overhang and small cave before easing onto a sandy finish around the second rock. It is straightforward when the sea is calm, but the crossing can turn uncomfortable in tramontane or other choppy conditions. Expect Mediterranean life such as moray eels, bream, barracuda, groupers and nudibranchs, with monkfish and rays in season.

Scuba Diving
Work the wall from the south, use the small cave and overhangs as reference points, and finish on the sandy second-island section.
Freediving
Only a secondary use case for confident freedivers on very calm days; the site is mainly a guided scuba and snorkel outing.
Snorkeling
Begur Dive runs boat snorkeling trips to Illa Negra; it works best as a calm-weather surface outing.
