Nehandros
About Nehandros
Neandros Island is an uninhabited island south of Büyükada, known for its remote and desolate character. A medieval monastery once existed here, but monastic life ended around two centuries ago. The surrounding waters are described as among the last remaining pockets of marine life in the Istanbul area, and the island is also frequented by seabirds such as cormorants, gulls, and herons, with migrating storks occasionally stopping by.
