About Kasitsna Bay Laboratory
Kasitsna Bay Laboratory is a NOAA/UAF marine research and teaching base on the south side of Kachemak Bay near Seldovia. It has rocky/gravel shore access, a dock, scuba support, and nearby kelp-forest and intertidal habitat that support scientific diving, tidepool work, and field classes. The surrounding bay is a cold, nutrient-rich estuary with kelp beds, seagrass systems, tidal flats, and deeper waters that make the area useful for nearshore ecology.
