About Troy Springs
A first-magnitude spring reaching about 70 ft deep, with clear freshwater suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. In the shallow portion of the spring run lie the remains of the Civil War-era steamboat Madison, scuttled in 1863. Fish life can include blue catfish, crappie, Florida gar, and bass, and fishing is allowed from the river bank or river dock but excluded from the designated swimming area.
