Cold-water lake diving, clear charophyte habitat, and historic wrecks within reach of Berlin
Pick an activity mode to compare signature sites, skill fit, and gear planning notes before you lock your trip.
The circuit lets divers progress rather than repeat the same lake. Start at Straussee with 1A Tauchcenter for equipment checks, skills, and guided shore diving; move to Stechlinsee for clear-water habitat and disciplined nature-reserve procedures; then use Werbellinsee for broader navigation, boat logistics, and qualified historic-wreck plans. These are cold freshwater dives with thermoclines, low light, variable visibility, and easy-to-disturb sediment. Open Water divers have useful shallow options, but selected Werbellinsee wrecks belong to divers with current deep, wreck, buoyancy, and low-visibility skills.
The most convenient Berlinlinked entry for skills, guided shore dives, and a first check of weighting, exposure protection, and freshwater buoyancy.
A protected, nutrientpoor lake known for charophyte habitat, submerged timber, freshwater species, and visibility that can reach about {{ 10 | visibility:m }}.
The broadest local portfolio, combining training zones, fish life, boatsupported routes, and historic wooden cargobarge wrecks.
A signature advanced objective for divers whose current certification, gas planning, lowlight control, and wreck experience match the operator's site briefing.
Operator Checklist
Contact each base before travel, especially outside May to September. Reserve rental equipment and any Werbellinsee boat or wreck plan. Bring certification, proof of recent diving, and any medical clearance required by the operator. At Stechlinsee, register before entering, dive with a buddy and computer, and check out afterward. Confirm the current base entrance, parking instructions, emergency oxygen location, and ambulance rendezvous point. Do not use old online Werbellinsee fee or access information without reconfirmation after the 2026 relocation.
