When To Go · Destination Guide
Cold-water lake diving, clear charophyte habitat, and historic wrecks within reach of Berlin
When to go
May through September is the easiest shared window because bases, bathing monitoring, ferries, and outdoor services are active and surface conditions are more comfortable.
Best overall window
Active bases, long usable days, milder surface weather, and generally less crowding than peak school holidays.
Outside that window
School Holiday Crowds.

|---|---|---|
| Straussee | May to September | The easiest lake without a car. Main caution: School Holiday Crowds. |
| Stechlinsee | May to September | The 2026 base schedule is daily from late April into September, then limited weekends into October. Main caution: Visibility can swing more from day to day. |
| Werbellinsee | May to September | Confirm the current 2026 base entrance, opening calendar, boat availability, and wreck plan before travel. Main caution: Surface chop can add a little more texture on exposed entries. |
These do not replace the overall planner. Use them only if a specific animal or event is driving your trip dates.
