Cold-water wrecks, sheltered sea-loch training, and island shore adventures within reach of Glasgow

Glasgow is the main gateway, but the destination divides into three practical approaches. Drive north and west for Finnart, Loch Long, and Arrochar; travel to Gourock or McInroy's Point for Dunoon and Cowal; or use Largs and Wemyss Bay for Great Cumbrae and Bute. Trains from Glasgow Central serve Gourock, Largs, and Wemyss Bay, with ferry connections onward. Divers carrying cylinders, weights, drysuits, and wet storage normally gain the most flexibility from a car, club van, or pre-arranged operator transfer. This is a shore-and-day-boat region, not a liveaboard gateway.
A car is strongly recommended for Loch Long shore diving, cylinders, weights, drysuits, and early starts. Rail works well from Glasgow Central to Gourock, Largs, and Wemyss Bay, and ferries extend those routes to Dunoon, Great Cumbrae, and Bute.
