What It Feels Like
Kadavu diving is for divers who want Fiji's big reef feeling without a crowded marina. Mad Fish Dive Centre at Matava works the south and east Great Astrolabe routes, while Ono, Buliya and Kokomo operators open different reef clusters around the barrier. Expect tide-timed passages, coral gardens, manta sites, shark and trevally action, swim-throughs, caverns and long blue-water views when the dry season settles in.

Operator Checklist
- Book the resort first, then confirm its dive radius, boat style, nitrox availability, rental sizes and manta policy. Build at least five dive days into the plan if Naiqoro and Manta Reef are priorities, because wind and tide decide the daily route. Keep your last dive well before domestic flights, and remember that small aircraft luggage allowances can make a full camera kit or cold-water regulator case expensive. A 3mm suit works for many divers, but a 5mm is useful for repeat dives in the cooler dry season.
