When To Go

Season planner for Koh Samui

Koh Samui sits on the Gulf side of Thailand, so its rough-water season typically peaks later than Phuket and the Andaman coast. For divers and snorkelers, the most reliable window is usually March-September, with warm water around 28°C and better odds of longer boat days to Koh Tao and Sail Rock. The wettest, choppiest stretch often lands in late October to mid-December, when tours can cancel and Mu Ko Ang Thong may reduce operations or close seasonally. Topside travel is still possible year-round, but the most comfortable sightseeing weather is typically December-February.
