What It Feels Like

Musandam is boat-diving country. Most dives run on reefs and limestone pinnacles off the Musandam coast, with a mix of walls, caves, and current lines that keep the fish life busy. Expect nutrient-rich water and lots of action, but also visibility that can sit around 8 m to 15 m depending on plankton and tide. Water temperatures are generally warm year-round, roughly 23°C to 32°C, so exposure protection is more about season and wind on the boat than about cold water.

Khasab-based operators like Musandam Discovery Diving and Ras Musandam Diver focus on fjord and headland diving, while Extra Divers Zighy Bay runs small-group speedboat diving for Six Senses guests. Start with Lima Rock and Octopus Rock if you want classic Musandam pinnacles.

Signature Sites

Start Here

  • Ras Abu Daoud

One of the reef systems accessed from Zighy Bay, known for colorful soft corals and a mix of macro and larger encounters.

  • Ras Lima

A currentinfluenced headland and reef area often used on multidive itineraries.

  • Telegraph Island

Historic Telegraph Island (Jazirat al Maqlab) is better known for snorkeling stops, but divers like it for calmer coves in the fjords and easy reef structure for relaxed profiles and photography.

Advanced

  • Lima Rock

    A limestone pinnacle roughly {{ 800 | distance:m }} by {{ 200 | distance:m }} with steep, jagged sides, shallow caves, and deep fissures.

  • Octopus Rock

An isolated stack about {{ 3 | distance:km }} offshore from Lima Bay.

  • The Caves

A photogenic Musandamstyle site built around overhangs, swimthroughs, and shaded chambers.
