When To Go

Season planner for Port Lincoln (Neptune Islands)

Port Lincoln runs on a cool-temperate coastal rhythm. Air temperatures average around 25°C daytime highs in summer (Jan-Feb) and around 16°C in mid-winter (Jun-Aug), with winter also bringing the highest rainfall. Offshore trips to the Neptune Islands depend more on wind and sea state than on air temperature, so build flexibility. Late summer to early autumn usually combines the warmest water with calmer windows for snorkeling and freediving, while winter and spring can add whale-watching and dramatic Southern Ocean weather.

For any boat-based plan, check the Bureau of Meteorology marine forecast before you commit.
