Mooloolaba operator overview of local reefs and charter-style access to Gneering Shoals.
Easy Gneering Shoals reef with coral growth and shallow structure.
Easy Gneering Shoals reef with coral growth and shallow structure.
Aussie's Reef is one of the easier Gneering Shoals dives, with a compact reef rise that stands proud of the surrounding sand and gives divers a simple circuit around coral-covered structure, ledges, and fish life. It works well as a relaxed Sunshine Coast boat dive because the reef top is easy to read, the surrounding sand keeps navigation straightforward, and there is enough structure to hold turtles, rays, reef fish, and the occasional resting shark.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
13m - 18m
Depth Note
Reef top around 13 m with the surrounding sea floor around 18 m.
Best Season
Aussie's Reef can be dived year-round when offshore weather allows, but calmer periods with lighter wind and better blue-water influence are usually preferred for comfort and clarity on the shoals.
Typical Conditions
Expect an offshore reef-and-sand layout with moderate depth, reasonable natural light, and typical Sunshine Coast charter conditions that can shift with swell, wind, and current. Visibility is often decent by local standards but should not be treated as consistently tropical-clear.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
