Sheltered shore dive on the north side of Lady Bay's breakwater.
Warrnambool Breakwater, inside is a sheltered shore dive on the north side of Lady Bay's breakwater, where concrete cover and kelp make a compact route. In calm water it is a straightforward out-and-back with sand patches beside the structure and regular small-life sightings. It suits patient divers and snorkellers on calm days. Surge and boat movement near the ramp are the main planning checks.

Safety Notes
Keep a float or flag up, watch the ramp lane, and skip the dive when white water or heavy surge is already visible.
Access Restrictions
Use the shore gap between the breakwater and the boat ramp, and only enter when the surface is calm enough to avoid surge wash-back.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
A short shore route along the breakwater face and nearby reef, best kept to calm water with a float or flag because the ramp area is close.
Snorkeling
Snorkelling works on calm days close to the breakwater, but the entry loses appeal fast once surge or white water shows up.
