Freshwater training lake with easy shore access near Antwerp
Freshwater training lake with easy shore access near Antwerp
Put van Ekeren is a freshwater lake dive in the Muisbroek recreation area on the edge of Antwerp, used heavily for training and easy practice dives. The site is shore-based, with a platform entry, a simple route along the lake edge, and seasonal plant growth that thickens the shallows in summer. It is a calm, permit-based spot with little to no current, so it suits buoyancy work, navigation practice, and relaxed buddy dives. Expect a lake environment rather than open-water scenery: sand, clay walls, submerged objects, and plenty of freshwater fish.

Freediving
Calm water and no current can suit basic shallow practice, but the site is designed primarily for scuba training rather than breath-hold diving.
Snorkeling
Possible only as a secondary shoreline activity in calm conditions; the lake is much better suited to scuba than to dedicated snorkel trips.
