Wort des Lebens, Starnberger See: shore entry to a wall and rock garden.
Wort des Lebens, Starnberger See: shore entry to a wall and rock garden.
Wort des Lebens is a signature Starnberger See shore dive at Assenhausen, with a split profile that makes the site feel bigger than the entry suggests. To the right, the bottom drops into a steeper wall with ledges and crevices; to the left, the slope stays gentler with a shallow rock garden and plant life near shore. It is easy to underestimate, so buoyancy and depth discipline matter more than speed. Perch, pike, and eels show up around the structure, and access is more finicky than the dive itself because the shore road is protected and vehicle entry is limited.

Scuba Diving
A varied lake scuba dive with a shallow rock garden and access to a steeper wall area around 18 m, suitable for beginners through advanced divers.
Freediving
Only the shallow shore edge suits casual freediving; the wall section drops away too quickly to be a useful freedive target.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is limited to the shallow shore edge and plant belt; the wall section is a scuba dive, not a snorkel route.
