Deep Capraia shoal with rocky relief and strong fish life.
Deep Capraia shoal with rocky relief and strong fish life.
Secca del Turco is Capraia’s signature deep shoal on the island’s eastern side near Cala Rossa. The rocky mound rises from a deep slope into ledges and a wall covered in sponges, spirographs, and tunicates, with barracuda, dentex, groupers, and snappers moving through the water column. Treat it as an advanced boat dive: the site is exposed enough that current can build, so a clean descent and conservative gas planning matter.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
27m - 50m

Site conditions, restrictions, and access requirements.
Safety Notes
Treat Secca del Turco as an advanced open-water dive with an exposed profile and occasional stronger current; keep gas and ascent margins conservative.
Access Restrictions
Private dives need park authorization and a booked dive; most teams should plan through an authorized local operator.
Legal Notes
Capraia's dive routes sit inside the park-managed system, so check permit and reservation rules before a private trip.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Deep shoal dive starting around 27 m and dropping beyond 50 m.
Freediving
Not a practical freedive target; the shoal profile is geared to scuba rather than breath-hold diving.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkeling target except for surface support; the key terrain sits well below snorkel range.
