Kulkenol is a breakwater wreck dive in Zeeland.
Kulkenol is a breakwater wreck dive in Zeeland.
Kulkenol is a Zeeland breakwater dive at the tip of the T-shaped dam near the Zeelandbrug. Access means parking near the bridge and walking along the dam to the point where the water bends toward the shipping channel, so timing and current awareness matter more than the distance on land. The site is a deep, tide-sensitive wreck-and-blocks dive with a spring nudibranch bloom and very little margin for sloppy positioning, which is why it suits experienced divers who are comfortable in moving water.

Reported Depth
35m
Depth Note
Depth given as 35 m.
Best Season
spring
Typical Conditions
Very strong current, deep water, and poor visibility are the normal baseline. Spring is the biological highlight because the blocks can hold large numbers of nudibranchs.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Very strong current can occur where the flow bends toward the shipping channel; plan dives accordingly.
Access Restrictions
Shore access requires a long walk from Zeelandbrug parking to the breakwater tip. Low water is the safest plan, and high water can push you toward the busy harbor mouth.
Legal Notes
Stay on the breakwater blocks, keep clear of boat and fishing traffic, and do not let the flow carry you toward the shipping channel or harbor mouth.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Depth is around 35 m with potentially very strong current near the bend toward the shipping channel.
Freediving
Not a freedive site; the depth and current make Kulkenol a scuba-only dive for well-prepared divers.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel site; Kulkenol is too deep and too current-sensitive to treat as a casual surface outing.
