About Bowling Alley

Bowling Alley is a shallow Bay of Islands reef dive built around kelp-covered boulders, cracks, and small ledges that reward a slow, observant circuit. It works well as an easy fishy reef for newer divers, while still giving experienced divers plenty to photograph among the rocks where eels, cray habitat, and schooling reef fish concentrate.

Safety Notes

Although Bowling Alley is suitable for less experienced certified divers, it is still an open-water reef dive where weather, swell, and visibility can change through the day. Maintain buoyancy over the boulders and kelp, use a torch to check holes and cracks carefully, and follow the skipper's briefing on site conditions and navigation.
