About Ondartxo
Ondartxo is a boat-access slab dive on the slopes of Mount Ulia near the mouth of Pasaia. The route runs east-west across broken rock, with a channel, sand pockets, and a small camouflaged cave on the south side. Divers can keep it moderate along the sheltered side or continue north to a steeper wall when conditions are calm. Expect strong macro interest and plenty of rock life, with the site best on settled sea days.

Depth Note
Main slab is around 14 m; a south-side line can stay in the mid-teens to low twenties, while the north wall drops to about 30-32 m.

A rocky east-west slab with a channel and sand pockets; the site is more comfortable in calm windows and less relaxed when Bay of Biscay weather builds.
Safety & Access At Ondartxo

Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Keep the small south-side cave as a look-in feature only, watch the return line to the anchor, and simplify the plan if swell or port-mouth flow builds.
Access Restrictions
Boat access is the normal pattern; keep the plan tied to a local operator and a settled sea state.
Legal Notes
Follow local harbor and boat-traffic rules near the mouth of Pasaia.
Local Intel For Ondartxo
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Use the shallower south side/channel for a relaxed tour, or take the deeper north wall if your plan and conditions allow; this is a better fit for divers comfortable with a boat dive than for first-timers.
Freediving
Not a freedive-first site; the useful structure sits beyond comfortable breath-hold range and is easiest to enjoy with scuba.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel-first site; the interesting slabs, cave, and wall are subtidal.
