About Box Beach, Electra
Box Beach, Electra is a shallow Mokelumne River beach with a sandy entry that drops toward a granite wall and a picnic area above the water. The site works more like a river beach and swim stop than a deep dive, so flow, access, and river level matter more than boat traffic or surf. It is the kind of place you use for a quick river splash, a low-water dive, or a summer day by the water rather than a long technical outing.

Scuba Diving
The site is best treated as a short river dive or practice spot rather than a long scenic route.
Freediving
Low-flow summer water can suit relaxed breath-hold practice, but the site is still a river with changing current.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling can work when the river is low and clear enough, but flow and sediment make this more of a swim hole than a clear-water snorkel site.
