Long Point is a Palos Verdes shore dive at the old Marineland bluff access. It is a classic rocky reef and kelp site with good visibility on calm days, but the approach is rough and the entry is most comfortable for divers who can manage surf timing, surge, and a rocky carry from the bluff lot. Once in, the site rewards patient reef swimming and macro search work.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
4.6m - 15.2m
Depth Note
The main reef drops quickly off the point into a moderate-depth band with sand farther out.
Best Season
Year-round on calm-swell days.
Typical Conditions
Rocky shore entry, kelp, good visibility, and surge over the entry rocks; the site is best on light-swell days.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Plan the entry around swell, keep a close eye on footing, and treat the rocks and surf zone as the hardest part of the dive.
Access Restrictions
Daylight access and a rough footpath make this a calm-day shore dive rather than a casual beach walk.
Legal Notes
Follow posted access instructions at the bluff lot and respect any temporary resort or coastal access rules around Long Point.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Best for intermediate shore divers who can manage rock entry and surf timing. Calm conditions reward a long reef swim and a careful exit.
Freediving
Not a freedive-first site; the rocky entry and surge are better suited to scuba.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling can work on very calm days near the cove, but the site is primarily a scuba shore dive.
