When To Go

Season planner for Malaysia

Malaysia is tropical year-round, but planning is all about wind direction. Peninsular east coast islands are best when the Northeast Monsoon is not active, while Sabah and the northwest often keep more consistent access. Use the tracks below to match your activity and coast to the most comfortable sea states.

Ideal: Most reliable island operations, warm water 28°C to 30°C, generally calmer seas

Plan Carefully: Northeast Monsoon affects Peninsular east coast with gustier days 25.0 kph to 35.0 kph; northwest and Sabah often still run

If you are locked into Nov to Feb, prioritize Langkawi and Payar Marine Park and Sabah hubs like Kota Kinabalu and TARP and Semporna.
