Scuba
What It Feels Like
Scuba is the strongest underwater reason to visit. Ibiza brings deep wrecks, islet walls, caves, and easy boat logistics, while Formentera brings Es Freus Marine Reserve, clear shallow arches, Posidonia meadows, and compact dive days from La Savina or Formentera's west coast. The best plan is not to chase every famous site in one day. Build a progression: a check dive at Dado Pequeno or El Arco, a reserve day around Formentera, then advanced dives such as Don Pedro, La Mariana, La Bota, or Vedranell Canyons when weather and certification align.
Signature Sites
Start Here
An iconic exposed islet profile with pelagic potential, barracuda, grouper, and dramatic topography when the weather window is stable.
Formentera's friendly limestone arch site inside the Es Freus area, with shallow routes from about {{ 4 | distance:m }} to {{ 20 | distance:m }}.
Advanced
Ibiza's flagship wreck, with advanced profiles commonly planned around {{ 25 | distance:m }} to {{ 47 | distance:m }} depending route, certification, and conditions.
A convenient Ibiza check dive near the port, with shallow walls, Posidonia, octopus, and fish life before moving to deeper targets.
A deeper Formentera artificial reef that attracts barracuda, amberjack, grouper, moray, lobster, and conger eel, often planned to about {{ 33 | distance:m }}.
Planning Playbook
Operator Checklist
Book reserve and wreck dives early in July and August. Ask whether the operator holds the correct marine-reserve authorization for Es Freus and whether your own certification and insurance satisfy local rules. Plan Ibiza and Formentera dive days separately when possible, because ferry timing, weather, gear transfer, and nitrogen loading can make a same-day island swap inefficient. Use a surface marker buoy on every drift-prone or boat-traffic site, and never touch Posidonia, gorgonians, or cave walls.
