Most paired itineraries use Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) and a rental car or private transfer north through Ston and along Peljesac. The Peljesac Bridge keeps this mainland road route inside Croatia. Continue to Orebic for the short vehicle ferry to Domince on Korcula, or stay on the peninsula for Ston, Zuljana and Orebic. Split Airport (SPU) is a credible alternative when the trip begins with Split, Hvar, Vela Luka or a passenger vessel to Korcula Town, but schedules and vehicle carriage vary. There is no commercial airport on Korcula. Build the itinerary around a published ferry that operates on the actual travel date, not a generic summer route map. Weather and seasonal timetables can change connections, so avoid an unprotected same-day international flight after a long island transfer.
A car is the most practical tool for combining Lumbarda, Korcula Town, Orebic, Zuljana, Ston and wine country. Roads on the island and peninsula can be narrow, steep and slow, especially around villages and vineyard slopes.
