Overview

Soft-coral reefs, choreographed shark dives, and jungle adventure from Fiji's adventure coast

Pacific Harbour is Fiji's mainland launchpad for Beqa Lagoon, a protected, barrier-reef lagoon known for soft-coral bommies, wrecks, and some of the most structured shark dives in the South Pacific. The destination works best as a resort or day-boat trip: stay in Pacific Harbour for easy road access, or base on Beqa Island for quieter house reefs, kayaking, and resort-style immersion. Divers come for Shark Reef Marine Reserve, The Bistro, Cathedral, Caesar's Rock, and more than 30 local dive sites. Snorkelers get guided lagoon trips around Beqa Island, Yanuca Island, and colorful shallow bommies. Non-divers are genuinely spoiled too, with the Upper Navua River, ziplining, mangrove kayaking, firewalking, spa time, golf, and Suva day trips all within reach.

What Makes It Special

  • Signature shark conservation

Shark Reef Marine Reserve and The Bistro turn the shark dive into a conservation-funded, operator-controlled experience rather than a casual wildlife chase.

  • Soft-coral variety

Lagoon pinnacles, walls, swim-throughs, bommies, and shallow house reefs mean a week can mix big animals, reef color, macro, and beginner-friendly dives.

  • Mixed-trip strength

Few Fiji dive bases combine serious underwater time with rafting, ziplining, cultural shows, surfing, golf, spa options, and Suva day trips this easily.

  • Simple logistics

Most travelers fly to Nadi, drive the Queens Road to Pacific Harbour, and use local day boats rather than expedition vessels or inter-island domestic flights.

Best time to go

May to October

Cooler dry season, lower humidity, better visibility odds, warm water, and the strongest allaround trip reliability.

Main caution: Warmest, most humid period with higher storm disruption risk, rainaffected visibility, and useful value if you keep plans flexible.
