About Aliwal Shoal
Aliwal Shoal is a boat-accessed Marine Protected Area off Umkomaas, South Africa, built on an ancient sand-dune coastline. It combines coral- and sponge-covered reef, wrecks, and shark encounters across named dive sites that run from shallow pinnacles into fuller reef profiles. It suits divers who are comfortable with live-boat logistics and changing current and swell.
