Eelskins
Sheltered sandstone reef dive with gullies and swim-throughs.
Eelskins is usually dived by boat from Umkomaas as a gentler Aliwal Shoal reef option, with sand gullies that soften ordinary current but still require sea-state and launch judgment.
About Eelskins
Eelskins is an inshore Aliwal Shoal reef site built around fossilized sandstone ridges, sand gullies, overhangs, and easy swim-throughs near the southwestern end of the shoal. It is typically chosen as a relaxed reef dive for open water divers who want shelter from the stronger flow on the outer edges while still having a realistic chance of sharks, shoaling tropical fish, and macro subjects.
